Challenge Update: Volleyball in Lead with Three Days Remaining

Wednesday, June 28, 2017

With only three days remaining in the 2nd Annual Athletics Alumni Participation Challenge, Volleyball has continued its incredible giving effort to assume a lead in all three Challenge categories. The program, which saw only 15% of former student-athletes give last year, has received support from 41% of all alumni, including all seven members of the Class of 2017, thanks to a concerted effort of peer outreach by the Volleyball Alumni Advisory Board.

Other highlights in the Challenge include:

  • An incredible 61% giving rate from the men's and women's lacrosse young alumni .
  • Since the Challenge launched on June 1, the overall participation rate of all athletics alumni has grown 4%.
  • 22% of all former athletes have given to at least one of their former sports this year. This metric is up 2% already from last year.
  • Already, 10 Friends programs have 20% overall giving or greater, while at least four more have an opportunity to join that group before the end of the week. Last year, only nine programs reached 20% or greater in overall participation.
